FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How can I book an appointment?
You can use our online booking service to book an appointment, call us on 01392 757475 or alternatively email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Will I receive treatment during my first appointment?
In the majority of cases yes; your initial consultation will also include your first treatment. We understand you want to get back to doing the things you love and our aim is to help you get there as soon as possible.
However, in some cases treatment is not always appropriate on the first visit as some patients require further investigations (X-Rays, MRI scans etc) or a referral to another health care practitioner. If this is the case your chiropractor will fully discuss this with you and do everything they can to make sure you get the treatment you need.
How long are appointments?
Your initial consultation will be between 45 minutes and an hour. This will allow plenty of time to gather all the information required regarding your problem and explain our findings before commencing treatment if appropriate.
Follow up treatments will be 20-30 minutes.
How much will it cost?
The initial consultation is £50 and follow up treatment sessions are £35 each.
Are you recognised by private medical insurance companies?
Yes we are. We are able to accept patients from most major insurance companies, including BUPA, Aviva, AXA/PPP, Vitality, WPA and Simply Health.
Each insurance company has a different system so we suggest checking directly with them regarding their claims procedure before making an appointment.
Are treatments available on the NHS?
No. Unfortunately at this time chiropractic treatment is not offered by the NHS and so all our treatments are provided on a private basis.
Do I need a referral from my GP to see a chiropractor?
It is not necessary for you to obtain a referral from your GP to see one of our chiropractors. We do, however, encourage you to bring any information you may have been provided by other health care professionals to your initial consultation as it may help in formulating a treatment plan.
At Harbour Chiropractic our aim is to work alongside your GP and we are happy to update them on your treatment and progress if this is something you would like us to do.
What should I wear to my appointments?
We advise our patients to wear loose fitting, comfortable clothing to their appointments. If you have a leg or arm complaint then it is a good idea to wear, or get changed into, something that you feel comfortable in. For example, shorts would be perfect for a knee injury.
Don't panic if you forget to dress appropriately or are coming straight from work as gowns are always provided if needed.
How many appointments will I need?
At Harbour Chiropractic our aim is to get you back doing the things you love as soon as possible. Some conditions quickly improve and require less treatment whereas others may take longer and require more treatment. Therefore, before seeing you we cannot predict how many sessions you are likely to need. During your initial consultation, your Chiropractor will go through with you how many treatments they think you will need after they have taken a history and carried out an examination.
